That really. We just got back from Sandbanks (Poole)and had a lovely time. Small shop serving hot food, toilets, lifeguards all available on the beach. We've now decided we're going to try and visit other beaches no more than 2 hrs drive from us.

Please tell me about your beast beach day trips that you've had or recommend me some Smile. I'm in the southeast.

Just to add, I've googled best beaches. The U.k and it's given beaches way to far for us to travel.

Plenty of lovely beaches in Norfolk but that is probably a bit far from you? Wells-Next-the-Sea, Brancaster, Happiburgh, Aldeburgh (stony beach but a great place nonetheless), Southwold to name but a few. Norfolk beaches

Old Hunstanton has a nice beach. Nothing really to do other than the beach though unless you want to go the tacky tourist bit of "new" Hunstanton. Cromer beach isn't bad from what I remember.

I also love Sandbanks beach and even better there's a section you can take dogs on, all the year round.

Studland is gorgeous, all the way along but we give the nudist part a miss.

West Wittering beach in Sussex is lovely.

I second the beaches in Norfolk, with Brancaster beach being my favourite.

Southwold in Suffolk is a lovely place and has a great beach.

Another great place for beaches, but probably too far for you, is The Gower. Oxwich Bay, Rhossili Bay and Whiteford sands are fab.

West Wittering.

Broadstairs (carry on towards Margate from the main beach along the promenade for about ten minutes and you'll find a quieter beach called Stone Bay).

Sennen Cove (ok, too far for you but well worth it I promise).

Brancaster beach is lovely. Suffolk beaches are quite pebbly. It depends what sort of beach you like?
