Which Centre Parcs?

Chocolatechops84 · 29/06/2017 11:46

We're looking to book our last term time break at the start of September, before our daughter starts school on the 12th. We're looking to go to a centre parcs because we've never been & would like to go, but not at school holiday prices! We have an 18 month old and a 4 year old who both love swimming. Can anyone tell us which the best site to visit is?! Specifically which has the best pool?

Woburn has a very small pool.

Longleat is hilly

Not been to Sherwood for a long time.

Elveden is great.

Never been to Whinfell.

Think the main decider is where you are.

Great, thank you! Do they have any (free) entertainment at all, like tots discos or kids shows or anything?

Elveden is best for kids.
Longleat too hilly and kids club and park really steep hill.
Woburn v small and not much pool for young children.
Unfortunately Elveden is the furthest away from where we live.

The central pool atWoburn is small but the kids splash areas are fab. There are always lots of seats (not the case at Longleat). The changing cubicles are plentiful and warm. There are so many rides that the older kids head for that the pool is busy but never too crowded. I prefer the waves there to Longleat for little kids.
I love Longleat in the summer for bike riding and space. I love Woburn when it's colder because everything is nearer as it's smaller.
Woburn has a little kids disco every night in the bowling alley bar area

Whinfell is lovely.

Whinfell is my favourite.
Woburn is very small but lovely and new.
Sherwood is looking really shabby and old at the minute, pool and changing rooms are starting to look really grim.
Longleat is very hilly.
They have a disco on a Wednesday and Friday usually for free but that is about it!

Currently at Sherwood Forest, have been to Whinfell previously too. Whinfell felt much bigger but maybe that's because I was pushing a buggy where as this time we brought bikes. I prefer the size of Sherwood and that the central area with the shops etc is not indoors as it is at Whinfell however I agree with pp that the changing areas at the pool are a bit dated. Accommodation is a very similar standard though and I prefer what's on offer in the local area for Sherwood.

Only ever been to Whinfell.

Like someone said previously, it depends where you are. I wouldn't waste a day travelling because you can use the facilities from 10am on your arrival day until you want to eave on departure day!

We went last year with our 4 year old DS and 20 month old DD. Going again for Bonfire weekend but 9 of us in total!

My 4 year old LOVED the pool.

Whinfell has two small slides in the children's section plus the splash area at the top. There is a wave pool, 'lazy' river that leads into the outdoor area where the wild rapids ride ends. There are two tube slides plus a large white slide into it's own lagoon. There is also an activity pool too.

The parks are good but the one by the Sports Plaza is more toddler friendly. We stayed at Bilberry Wood which is directly opposite the big park plus the center. The park is adventurous but not toddler friendly IMO.

Lots to do and see (all very much the same at all the resorts). You can google maps for the swimming areas (and youtbe videos clips are good too) to get an idea as to what the swimming pools are like.

We based our decision on: price, location and size. Whinfell tops it for us although slightly further for us than Sherwood. All my friends go to Sherwood except for one family who say they prefer Whinfell. We tried to do Sherwood but it was going to be £400 MORE for the same time and same lodge.

No brainer.

Elevden, really lovely pool and not too huge that you spend hours trying to find things, my girls are 2 and 5.

Whinfell is my favourite In the UK, but we tend to go to Elveden or Sherwood as they are closer (I haven't been to Woburn, which is down the road).

We've also been to CP in both Netherlands/Belgium. Worth looking at once you have school aged kids, as they are often considerably cheaper than the UK ones.
