Belsay, Newcastle - what can we do with kids for days out?

I was thinking we could drive up to Alnwick for gardens/

What is the best / near beach? Bamburgh maybe a bit too far up, Amble is more of a marina...

Tryinng to get kids out and not go shopping or do playgyms!

Thanks!

Blue Reef Aquarium in N Shields
How old are the dc? Wet n Wild in N Shields
Life Centre, Discovery Centre, Hancock Museum in Newcastle
Baltic in Gateshead (but just across the Bridge).

Cragside

Presumably you've been to Belsay Hall?

Bit of a hike, but the drive across the causeway to Lindsfarne is fun (check safe crossing times)

Alnwick Gardens, Alnwick Castle, Barter Books (Alnwick)

Many other castles - at Warkworth you can get a little boat trip to the hermit hole. The 1.5 mile walk along the coast from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle is nice (also flattish).

Is Kielder Forest too far for you ?
