Sister's 18th weekend away!! Lakes? Poland? HELP

Okay so I have a car and we live in Lancashire, also close to decent trains and Manchester/Liverpool airports. I want to take my sister somewhere special for her 18th as she's FINALLY an adult! I'm also gonna bring along her best friend and one of our cousins, but they said they'll pay for themselves. I'd want to do one night if it was somewhere fancy, e.g. a spa, or two if it's elsewhere, e.g. a city.
Problems:-

  • Since I'm paying for my sis and the other two are students, we're working on a pretty tight budget. I don't mind paying for petrol as my car is fuel efficient, but I'd rather not drive over 100 miles...ish. So the cost has to be pretty low for accommodation - rules out London, Manchester city centre etc.
  • I'd rather it not be somewhere too close - Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, as we've been there a tonne of times.
  • Its her 18th so ideally there needs to be a few nice bars around, but this isn't a clubbing weekend - I'm pregnant and my cousin doesn't like clubs. Think classy and fun!
  • Needs to be between 8th and 23rd April as that's when she's off college.

ANY IDEAS? I know it's quite a difficult criteria. I looked at cheap flights and Warsaw is SO cheap, like £30pp return, is it nice there? Already ruled out London (been before and expensive hotels/airbnbs) and Paris (beautiful but flights are about £80pp return, without hotel costs).

Maybe York? Glasgow? Wales? Lake District? Any nice places anyone can recommend? We're quite open minded and into loads of stuff. I was gonna take her to Alton Towers but I'll be nearly 7 months pregnant so it's a bit of a waste of money for me!

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help suggest!!

Lots of nice bars and places to eat, good market on the quayside on a Sunday morning you can have a mooch around, good shopping. I'm sure someone told me that you can go and have a manicure at the jo malone shop and it's really nice and you could do that if pregnant?

Nearby - Sheffield or Nottingham have good nights out that you can do more bars than clubs. I'm sure York would be the same.
It can be cheaper abroad for things like hotels and eating out (we ate like kings in krakow a few years ago).

Thanks guys! I'll check those out. I've never been to Sheffield of Newcastle before so they could be great options, my sister is a big fan of men with the Geordie accent haha (lord help us) Wink

I checked and as long as there are no complications I'm good to fly short-haul (under three hours, I think) up to 36 weeks. It's different for different people but I think as long as your pregnancy is all running smoothly then it's fine up to then :-)

Redworth Hall looks gorgeous! Thanks for the suggestion, I've added it to my saved list x
