My lovely DH has just surprised me with a night in London this week. We'll arrive Thursday morning and leave Friday evening, staying near Marble Arch.

I'd like to spend a few hours at the sales but other than that no plans currently.

Have been to a lot of the big attractions on previous visits eh London eye but would love some suggestions for nice places to wander around, look at the lights, soak up the atmosphere...maybe Covent Garden?

Any lunch or dinner suggestions? We live in the sticks with zero choice so tend to go for ethnic cuisine when we can...tapas, Asian, middle eastern etc

Thanks in advance Xmas Grin

Dishoom - the breakfasts are amazing, but never been for lunch or dinner. I've only been to the Covent Garden branch, but I think there are others.

Borough Market is usually open Thursday and Friday, I always like a wander there if it's not too busy. I've not been this Christmas, but their lights are usually lovely. No idea when they take them down though.

Enjoy!

You could have a wander along the South Bank, then go over Waterloo Bridge and into Covent Garden. From there, it's only a short walk to China Town for lunch. Try the New World (opposite the Garrard Street car park) for the full dim sum in trolleys experience.

Roti chai is very close to Marble Arch- delicious tapas style Indian. Scandinavian kitchen / Nordic bakery also v close. Wallace collection is a lovely gallery in Marylebone. Providores on Marylebone high st. La fromagerie just off Marylebone.... so many good places that are no distance from Marble Arch :-)
