Cambridge for a weekend break?

I'm hoping to take my DH away for one night end Nov/early Dec. First time in 3 years due to kids. We love city breaks and have done Bath, Brighton, London. Needs to be within a few hours drive from the south east. Would Cambridge be a good option? Any other suggestions?

Thanks b

Yes! There are direct trains from King's Cross too if you don't want to drive.
There are two Michelin starred restaurants, colleges to explore, nice market in the centre, walks along the river to Grantchester. Wrap up warm as the Fens can get very cold.

Norwich is a good choice for a weekend break too. Depends what you like to do, but there are some very good restaurants and pubs, great castle and cathedral, lots of little independent shops in the Norwich Lanes, as well as all the usual chains in the 2 shopping malls.

Visit the Colman's mustard shop and have a wander along the River Wensum. Just a thought, although Cambridge is lovely too.

What do you like? Cambridge has galleries and museums in town, beautiful (and less beautiful) colleges, 2 NT properties within about 10 miles, IWM Duxford down the road, Botanic gardens ...

Cambridge is great for a weekend. Norwich is also nice but I wouldn't travel further to get to it over Cambridge.
Make sure you stay in one of the central hotels if you can, if budget stretches to it the Varisty Hotel is lovely and perfectly positioned.
