Somewhere similar to Aviemore - lots of activities and days out

We had a brilliant family holiday in Aviemore last year. The kids loved horseriding, cycling, grass sledding, swimming and visiting castles and the wildlife park. There was also a nice forest adventure park. We stayed in a great little lodge and everything was a short drive away.

I am looking for somewhere similar for 2 weeks this summer - lots of activities for 2 girls (7 and 4) and easy days out plus cottages/lodges at a sensible price. Any recommendations? We don't want to travel further north than Aviemore or as far south as Devon/Cornwall. I've been thinking about Isle of Wight, Gower Peninsula, or possibly doing Chester then the Peak District. We'd be happy to try a couple of places - we thought about going via Legoland, Wookey Hole or Chester Zoo.

How about Snowdonia?

Only about an hours drive to Chester and has amazing mountains, beaches (esp on the llyn peninsula) and so much to see and do! Our DC used to love it there, we now also go to the area around Fort William but that is quite Northerly!

Thanks Serin, Snowdonia looks good and we could do a couple of days in Chester. What did your kids enjoy most when you visited?

I hadn't thought about Arran but I'll have a look now.
