Please? Getting slightly desperate, as booking at last min due to having to wait to get time off work and check we had the money.

Usually go to Porthmadog or surrounding areas. Have tried menai holidays, sts travel, cottages4u, sykes etc. There are 5 of us plus dog.

TIA

We used to go to Bala - with Lake, and miniature railway - and there are plenty of towns and villages around the area with cottages. Try also Dolgellau, Festiniog, Barmouth.

Have you thought of Pembrokeshire? Lots of places to see? Probably further to drive if you were looking at North Wales but lots of accommodation options.

Try owners direct. Do you still want to be in the areas you mentioned?

lastminute-cottages.com are a pretty good place to look. ring the Tourist information office in Porthmadog to see what they have on their books that might be available. talking directly to someone rather than web surfing for late bookings is the way to go. however, school summer holidays have booked much, much earlier this year due to the ban on holidays in term time and you might have to accept that everything is taken.

Sorry I'm late coming back to this, and thanks for all your suggestions which will be stored for future use. Spent hours trawling the net and found a cottage in Borth-y-Gest which I booked last night-- or so I thought. No payment was required at the time, and as it was a site I'd not used before I waited to be invoiced. Rang them this afternoon to be told casually "oh the owner has already taken a booking for that week!" Good job I checked then! Managed to find another same area/price/week with STS travel who are much more professional and am all sorted now. Phew!
