Recommendation for UK holiday with a dog and 9 year old child

Reasonably priced.its the first yeR that we've had a dog and we would like to take him with us. Any good ideas?

Northumberland.....big open beaches with lots of space for child and dog to run around, castles, boat trips, Lindisfarne. Very dog and child friendly.

go on the specialist websites like petswelcome, dogfriendly etc first because not all places will take a dog. most will specify that the dog has to be older than a year and some say 2 years so need to give this some thought if it applies.
