Sunday lunch in Liverpool

DD has just started University in Liverpool. It is her birthday soon but she won't be coming home. However, she is keen on the idea that we go over there on the Sunday before and take her out for Sunday lunch.

We don't know Liverpool at all really and DD has only been there a few weeks.

Can anyone recommend somewhere nice we can go?

If I were being taken to lunch in Liverpool I'd probably choose Host on Hope Street.

(You could stay at Hope Street Hotel across the road on Saturday night and take her to a play at the Everyman. And spend the rest of Sunday exploring the two cathedrals....)

Thanks Zero. I think DD might have plans for the Saturday night that don't involve us Wink

Ah well....

I should also have said that there are lots of "mainstream" chain restaurants around Liverpool One.

And that you should try to get to the Walker Art Gallery (or Tate Liverpool) while you're there.

We've just booked to have Sunday lunch in Liverpool with ds1 who has just started Uni . . but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the restaurant.
It looks really good though and they serve "Sunday Lunch" till 10.30pm. But you definitely need to book they said to us. It's near John Lewis in Liverpool One. But . . . the name has gone from my mind. I will ask DH when he gets home and get back to you. Grin

zero - is HOST an ok place to take smaller DC?

we're booked in at the Hope St Hotel this week, as we're seeing a show at the everyman! Looking for somewhere to take the DC for early dinner.

EnvyEnvyEnvy Oh how I love Hope Street Hotel.

Take the littles to The Quarter (half a step round the corner) for fabulous pizzas and fun puddings. (Not that you can't take them to Host...)

What a lovely time you'll have.

Hi again.
Well in the end we booked a table at Hanover Street Social (as recommended by stillstandingatthebusstop) and had a jolly nice three course Sunday lunch. Service was very friendly and the place was obviously really popular.

Then had a lovely afternoon beingshown round the City by DD. Loved Albert Dock!

Anyway, thanks all.
