Well, I had no idea there were log cabins around there!

Clan triss ant is close enough btw. Imho.

Cardiff. Loads of threads on Cardiff
Fish and chips at Barry Island Grin
Penarth Pier.
St Fagans.

Or maybe Clan Triss 'nt would be closer to the locals.

Clan-tris-ant

Are you going this weekend? There's a NATO summit this week in Newport so I'm not sure if there may still be transport problems at the weekend around Cardiff. Assuming not, take a trip into Cardiff for shopping and the castle, or Cardiff Bay for restaurants. St Fagans isn't far from Llantrisant, it's free entry, it's an open air museum, there's always lots going on.

Cowbridge is a nice town in the Vale of Glamorgan. There are plenty of nice beaches too in the Vale, or head to the Gower, where the beaches are beautiful although I may be biased Grin

What kind of activities are you looking for?

Oh yeah, the centre of Cardiff is pretty unattractive at the mo thanks to the Ring of Steel (major fencing around the castle and parks, and part of the Bay).

How could I forget...

With kids or without?

Llangeinor arms has great food and is very reasonably priced and lovely views but about 20 min drive from Llantrisant. Book a table though. Cardiff Bay is nice, St Fagans is great if you have kids (good too if you don't). Afternoon tea at llanerch vineyard, or an evening meal there if you want to splash out on a lovely meal, again need to book a table. Don't do afternoon tea at the Miskin Manor, the food is rubbish.
Cardiff is great for shopping, Barry Island if you want to see where Gavin and Stacey was filmed. Dr Who exhibition in the bay if you are Dr Who fans.

And there is a huge tesco at Talbot green near Llantrisant if you need any shopping along with Aldi, pets at home, Tk max, boots, Pizza Hut, Clarkes, M&S, Starbucks, etc, etc, etc.

Hope it's not this weekend as we have Obama and Merkel here this week and lots of travel disruptions expected on Friday.

Another one saying avoid the miskin manor, overrated IMO.

Where are the log cabins?

Thanks everyone some lovely ideas right up our street! Were staying a couple of miles outside llantrisant in the cabin, a friend who lives nearby didn't believe there were any and is visiting us to see for herself lol!

Dr Who Experience is closed for a few weeks at the moment so check beforehand if you are thinking of going there.
