Isle of Wight - Bembridge or Yarmouth?

I'm looking for a cottage/apartment for August, have left it slightly late, so there's a limited choice. The most attractive available options for what we want seem to be in these two places - any opinions as to which would be a better base? I've never been to IOW so have no clue. DCs are 10 and 8 and fairly easily pleased. I do want to have the option of a day or two where we can hang out locally and don't have to get in the car.
