Anyone stayed in an apartment in London? Recommendations?

I'm planning on taking my 2 boys to London for 3 nights and was thinking rather than a hotel I might see if I could find an apartment to rent for a few days. I thought the extra I would be paying could be offset by not having to eat out for every meal so would need one with a kitchen.
