Southwold is pretty. And quiet. No arcades or whatever but a nice beach and some nice coffee shops etc.

Lowestoft is a bit louder and a few arcades.

Yarmouth is full on kiss me quick seaside!

What sort of thing do you fancy?

Aldeburgh is lovely - nice town, fish sheds on the beach, cultural things going on, near to Snape Maltings, good walks.

Southwold - lovely

N Norfolk Coast - more wild and remote, brilliant beaches and walks, some nice places to stay and eat... villages like Blakeney, or Burnham Market.

aldeburgh - fab fish and chips, lots of adnams, pretty coast. lovely.

I've never stayed at Southwold but it was lovely too when we I visited.

No hotels sorry but try Norfolk cottages or suchlike - my ex mil hired a lovely little cottage in southwold not far from the beach at all instead of a hotel and it was really nice.

We loved this pub/hotel when we had a child free weekend

www.anchoratwalberswick.com/

Amazing food, beautiful location, friendly staff, comfy rooms. Ask for the bedroom with sea views out of two sides

It's between Southwold and Aldeborough

Morston Hall in North Norfolk is lovely, amazing food ( it has a Michelin star), great rooms with your own patio and good location, though it isn't cheap. The nearby Hoste Arms in Burnham Market is also great.

N Norfolk - Cottages on Holkham estate are lovely but sadly being refurbed. Moreston Hall is gorgeous.

Morston Hall

The Hoste Arms

Have good reputations locally.

(I haven't been)

I have eaten here - nice food, some of the rooms have wonderful views

good reputation - I have had a great sunday lunch here, dining room very trad, the village also has 2 other great p[laces to eat

In general N Norfolk is short on indoor attractions - a couple of lovely NT houses..and good coastal and rural pubs. Nice shopping small towns like Holt or Burnham Market, a lively quay at Wells, and walking, birdwatching, a trip to see the seals at Blakeney point, and generally watching the world go by.

You could try the George in Rye? Have only walked past it myself, but their website makes it look lush.

The George in Cley is good.
Hoste Arms - a bit up its own arse but I do love Burnham Market. Lovely rooms, nice food.

It is really lovely, we like to watch kids playing in the mud along the quayside, they get absolutely filthy but wouldn't fancy taking ours back into the hotel in that state. Click the 'children' link on their site to see what I mean.

The tide comes right in so it has the feel of a very quiet, very English seaside village.

You can also crab on the quayside if the fancy arises Grin or just watch others having a go!

Not far from Cley (Bird reserve with great boardwalks) and excellent bookshops to browse in.

That bit of coast road is my favourite. Dh takes me for drives along it when I need cheering up

Oi, I linked to the Blakeney Hotel! Grin

The Moorings in Blakeney does excellent food, too.

In fact if you eat at the White Horse make sure it is the f/t chef not the cover on the head chef's night off. My family had a v bad experience this winter on the Chef's night off. (Monday)

Child free I wouldn't go to East Anglia.
I'd go to the Lake District & hit some mountains.
Or Peaks/Dales if Lakes are too far.
Or even moors rambling on the downs further south.
