Cottage/lodge/Bluestone but near the beach and less than 3 hours drive from Telford?

That's it basically, dribbled looked at Bluestone and it looks lovely but it's just too far away. Is there anything out there like Bluestone but closer?

Stayed in a cottage near Paignton last year but the drive was just too far for DS (who wailed 'Want go seaside' all the way there AND all the way back).

I'm look for reasonable priced cheap cottages/lodges near a child-friendly beach anywhere I can drive to in less than 3 hours (my nerves start to shred at the 2.5 hour mark). I don't want to do a caravan again, DS's hearing is too good!
