With two children age 6 and 10. Would love to be near the beach in nice accomodation but not too expensive!

Trying to talk DS into letting us have a holiday Hmm

here reasonably priced, animals to feed, uncrowded beach just across the road and down the cliff path, beautiful footpath into the village - we had a family get together here last year - weather was wonderful. Everywhere on the island is within easy reach - the busses are great if you don't want to use the car - tons of stuff to do

We stayed at the shanklin mount hotel, DS was not quite two when we stayed as part of a family stay so there were 12 of us total. Lovely hotel, had a pool and trampoline, train table for kids, very family friendly. We are looking to go back Smile

yes the beach is sandy with pebbles - a long beach with tons of scope for walking. Found this on google images which gives you an idea and this too

Ooh, I'll be watching this with interest as we're thinking of the Isle of Wight for this summer but don't know anything about it.

So many great places to stay on the Isle of Wight - Park resorts at Nodes Point Bembridge and Thorness Bay nr Cowes are great with children - if you do go be sure to get an Isle of Wight Tourist Discount Card www.iowtouristcard.com - you can save lots of money during your trip - we did last year - We are so looking forward to going back this year and hope the weather is a bit better this time!! :)
