Going to Isle of Man in 2 days with kids (last minute) - help!

Ok, I know it's not in the UK cos I googled it but I need tips re IOM, I haven't been since I was a child. We are staying in Douglas, I need to go with work but I'm taking DH and kids (nearly 4 and 19 mo) for 3-4 days.

  1. Where is good to stay in/ near Douglas? I want somewhere family-friendly pref with things for DH to do with kids nearby - thinking of hiring a car but only for a day while there. We could do with a room with a fridge cos DS has dairy and egg allergy.

  1. Would you recommend taking car seats for the hire car??

  1. We have not been on a flight with the children before; does anyone have any tips? We are flying from Liverpool or Manchester, are the budget airlines a nightmare when it comes to baggage allowance?

  1. Where would you suggest for a day out?

TIA!

We went recently from Liverpool with FlyBe.

The flight is sooo short, I wouldn't worry about the kids. I think you're allowed 20kg, may be wrong.

We stayed at the Sefton in Douglas, good location and has a pool.

Tip - take id for flight. Our friends took none whatsoever (who does that?) and very nearly didn't fly.

ps - the little train that goes up the mountain is nice to do with kids. it goes from the centre of Douglas.
