We usually do Devon in a 2 bed cottage but fancy going a bit futher down. we have a DS age 7 who loves the beach, digging, building, body boarding etc.. on an evening we like to eat out sometimes country or village pub.

dont want to be in touristy areas like newquay, padstow etc... but happy to stay on the outskirts

mumma we stay at wringworthy holiday cottages which is near looe on the south east coast of cornwall. we prefer this bit because its only about half an hour from plymouth (shops for teenager, boats for DH) it is much quieter and nicer than the north and we find it easier to get to on A38 rather than the A30 car park. they have a swimming pool and animals which our kids love feeding and watching wandering around. Wringworthy also check out the tourist board website as at least you know the places here should be decent as they have stars.

We've just got back from our 2nd stay at Bosinver Farm (www.bosinver.co.uk - sorry can't link on phone) and are gearing up to book next year again!
It's amazing with brilliantly child friendly facilities which mean you barely need to bring any baby/child stuff. Animal feeding every morning with the fantastic Farmer Dave (worth attending to get top day out tips from him!). It's just outside of St Austell so lots to do close by :-)

We have stayed in a place called lerryn river for the last two years. It is in a tiny village on the river, kind of near fowey. Gorgeous cottage, not bad value for money. Have to drive to the beach,, but not too far, and lovely pubs/ walks nearby. I would highly reccomend.
