Any reccomendations - happy with any type of accommodation inc hotel except a tent! Ideally would like near a country park/national park with safe fairly flat cycle routes or a large campsite with lodges etc. Nice villages nearby with restaurants and nice shops would be an added bonus

Staffordshire/Peak district around Ashbourne - Monsal, Tissington, High Peak and Manifold valley.

I would second the peaks in Staffordshire - there are some lovely, safe routes, some with a gentle incline but they're not hard!

You can have great days like parking at Bakewell, cycle on the Monsal Trail and then return to Bakewell for a tart/pudding Smile.

Tissington and High Peak are also great, I haven't done Manifold but I believe it's lovely too.

Apart from Buxton, Ashbourne and Matlock there are also loads of lovely villages.

They sound great - as she has never really cycled on the road yet and is about to go up a bike size we probably need to stick to cycle tracks/trails for now.

Clumber Park, Notts, the campsite has camping dens (wooden huts to sleep in). Or there is a hotel just down the road called the Clumber Park Hotel [funnily enoughHmm]. We live fairly nearby and go cycling loads during the spring/summer. Miles and miles of cycle rides, some by the side of quiet park roads, some through the forest.

Kent. - there's lots of good family cycle routes in Kent. Look at the Kent County council website for more details.

Well we decided on Norfolk. Got a great deal at Sprowston Marriott through family so now just refining bike routes, things to visit and places to eat. If anyone has any Norfolk (nr Norwich) favourites feel free to tell about them. THanks for everyone's recommendations.

Check out the Norfolk page on sustrans. I think national cycle route no 1 passes through Norfolk. You're also quite close to Thetford forest which has nice cycling.

Are you wanting somewhere you can cycle from the Marriott or you would drive a distance, unpack the bikes, cycle & cycle back to car & drive back to Marriott?
