Christmas Breaks away

It's my first Christmas without my mum and we want to go away for a few days to have a completely different experience than in previous years. Anyone have any suggestion for family friendly places to escape to that everyone will enjoy - dh, dd (6), ds (4), dad and mil. Thanks.

Not sure how far away you want to go but we stay at Wringworthy holiday cottages in Cornwall. about half an hour from Plymouth? They leave lovely Christmas hampers. Alternatively Bath is really nice at this time of year and the Spa hotel is a good luxury place to stay with a pool etc. Bedruthan steps is also v family friendly. You could also try googling things like railway carriage or gypsy caravan and see what comes up. Sorry also to hear about your mum - its rotten when the kids are so young.
