Hotel / good B&B nearish to M6 in Cheshire or Staffordshire

We're driving from London to Cumbria for a wedding in July and have cone to the conclusion that we need to stop over somewhere in order to prevent total DC meltdown.

So a hotel or nice B&B somewhere nearish (but not necessarily on!) the M6 in Staffs or Cheshire. We'll need a triple or family room and ideally we'd need a cot.

Also somewhere with something to do for a couple of hours which will let them blow off steam - either a walk somewhere, or a hotel with a pool which kids can use. Something like that.

Any ideas where I should look?

We used do that trip a lot! Depending on your budget there are quite a few places in and around Nantwich/Sandbach that could make a good overnight stay. Money no object options with pools are Crewe Hall or Rookery Hall, more down to earth The Cheshire Cat in Nantwich or maybe the Bear's Paw in Warmingham? Several Premier Inns and Travelodges around there too.

All about 10 mins from junction 16/17 and Nantwich has a nice riverside walk with park and swings etc, pretty town centre and big Sainsburys on the ringroad!
