Where to go this weekend - hotels for Families South Coast?

After our last couple of disastrous holidays we are looking at going away Sat to Monday no more than 2 hours drive from Croydon - and pref near a beach, so likely Eastbourne/Littlehampton etc etc

Any recs? We've got 3 dcs - 5,4 and 2 so somewhere with stuff for them to do on doorstep would be great - as would a decent restaurant on site for them and us
