I am looking for a private tutor who can get my child up to speed for Year4 entry to St Albans High School for girls. We are tutoring her as well but need help from someone who knows the programme and level of teaching at STAHS. Can anyone recommend a qualified / good tutor?

.....at the risk of sounding like a nutter, is your DD at a private school with a green uniform at the moment?

Hey, MynameisMummy , yes spot on...Good, fancy school just not delivering on education for us, hence the move. Any recommendations of a tutor or good agency at all?

VAKS, it runs out of Presdales in Ware, as well as other locations. When you first visit them they discuss what school you are at, what tests/sats/11+/entrance exam you are looking for support with. You can have an initial free assessment so that they can tell you the bits that need working on. It is not 1-2-1 tuition, but if you attend the assessment you will see the set up.

getreadynow We did exactly the same thing for exactly the same reasons! My DD is now at STAHS and I think it must have been your DD she saw the other day, as she told me she'd seen someone in the aforementioned uniform coming to look round. It's a small world indeed!

We had a couple of sessions with a lady from Potters Bar once we had the place. She was very good, but may be a bit far away for you. Happy to chat about the differences between the schools etc though if that's any help?

thanks, everyone, I contacted VAKS yesterday but they do group tutoring which might not work for us. Hence looking for either an agency or tutor who have experience with STAHS.

Thinking about it, a lot of the girls in the prep school are Harpenden based; tutors from there are probably more likely to have experience with girls from the school than someone based in Hertford.
