Recommendations for anything from ELC/Mothercare under £50

We have been given a very generous £50 gift card for DS' first birthday and can spend it in Mothercare and ELC. I am having a look through their website but have no idea what to get! Can anyone recommend anything? I was looking at the 7-in-1 trekker, but it seems to have awful reviews. Would also be interested in recommendations for smaller things.

I can recommend their garage and the magnetic cars that link -ds played with both for years- now 4 still plays with it if sees it- really sturdy as well. Have had one at playgroup for years so 100s children played with/stood on and still going - at 1 probably get most mileage from the cars but garage great investment..not a fan of multi purpose things our one hardly got used..hth

That sounds good - which is the set with the magnetic cars, is it the one which is on offer at the moment (buy the garage get the cars free)? The garage said suitable from 3 years so wasn't sure if it would just end up being stored and not played with for ages.

We got the Smart Trike for DS last Xmas when he was 14 months old and it's had lots of use this year and I can see him using it for years to come. It was just under £50 with vouchers I think.

He's also loved the sand/water play table in the garden this summer.

He's got the Whizz around garage too and enjoys playing with it.

There's also HappyLand - most toddlers seem to enjoy that. Or a load of paints/crayons etc?

Oh I have just found the garage you mean (The whizz around one) - it looks really good actually, thanks. In fact, if we get the whizz down mountain with free trucks, and the whizz around garage, I have a 20% off voucher for ELC as well so all together with 20% off and the voucher the lot will come to £10 - bargain!! We could even keep the free trucks for a Christmas present since they would be £10 on their own.

BornToFolk we are definitely getting him a sandpit next summer, we live in the Midlands so when we went on holiday to the coast and he saw the sand for the first time we decided we had to! I am not sure I could cope with trying to keep paints and crayons contained at the moment - you should see the mess he makes with yoghurt

We got a lot of use out of the Happyland house and castle. Still do and dd is nearly 6.

Just a quick note. You wont be able to use a 20% voucher on the whizz around garage because of the free cars offer. You could use it if you didnt want the free cars though. Depends which offer you prefer.
