What on earth to get 7 year old boy?

Hi All

I'm just hoping someone has any ideas about what I can get my ds7 for Xmas.

So far we've bought him a bike as he has just learnt to ride this year and is too big for his old bike. All good on that front he knows he definitely needs a new bike and wants one.

Other than the bike and this expensive robot he's seen on YouTube called cozmo that he wants (we can't afford to get it by the way) I have no idea what to get him.

All he seems to be into is computer games and iPads, he already has a switch so we'll be getting him a game to go with that.

He's not interested in lego, playmobil, action figures, dinosaurs, he's gone a bit off cars, doesn't like any slime stuff or arts and craft stuff. He's not interested in anything really, won't play with any of his toys anymore.
He's got loads of games which he does enjoy so I was going to perhaps get him some harder ones like junior scrabble or monopoly.
He's not the type of child who likes to play on his own (he's an only child) he never has, he gets bored of most things quite easily I'm just at a loss of what to get him. I've looked online at all the toys for his age and most things just seem to be lego, he's just not into anything that requires sitting down to concentrate on.

Anyone on here have a child like this? Has anyone got any ideas on what might be a good toy/toys for him?

My 8 year old has asked for the new Toothless Hatching egg toy, a bow and arrow, a Jellycat cuddly toy octopus and Ology books. I have also bought him a wax seal kit (for sealing letters), Treasure X, a nerf gun and target and Anki Overdrive starter kit (bit like Scaletrix but uses tech as well). Maybe go for experiences rather than stuff? Ifly voucher? Or one of the toys that blends screen and physical pieces such as Osmo or Beasts of Balance.

He received a Djeco magic set last year and loved it. There are videos online to teach them how to perform the tricks with flair!

Lalotai thanks, some great suggestions there. I'll be definitely checking them all out, some interesting things in there I wouldn't have thought of.

I love the magic set, I've been looking at some online but not seen that one before I think he would live that.

We do lots of walks in woods, on beaches and camping. Some non-Legoesque gifts DS has loved have been walkie talkies (good solid Motorola ones, black Friday prices), binoculars and a metal detector.

He has Lego, playmobil and small cars coming out of his ears, so we don't want to get him more of that. My dad has bought him an airfix kit to do with him, he is getting Battleships (the old fashioned plastic game) and some Minecraft bits (annual, bedding, pants maybe. I'm also painting him a couple of Minecraft "artworks" for his wall )

And I've just ordered a big book of labrynths.

Wood carving kit! I know it doesn't sound very child friendly but you can get special gloves and knives that are aimed at children this age. Also maybe a good book about it too? My son has had hours of fun carving sticks.

There's a robot called Boxer which is fairly similarly to Cosmo and quite a lot cheaper, got it for my DS and he's played with it quite a lot.

The osmo kit for iPad is good once it is set up and can interact with special real life toys that go with it.

We also like the lego robot - again once set up it interacts with the iPad so is a good crossover toy

@Cheerfulcharlie I know this is from a while back, but do you have any recommendations for a wood carving kit?? I've looked for my 10 yr old, but couldn't see anything that looked age appropriate and more than just a book.

We're getting ours an Instax Polaroid camera, some new books (the large illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, some craft books, an illustrated periodic table book, and some Michael Morpurgo). He's also getting Boggle, a new boot bag and drinking bottle for football. Lots of other small bits for the stocking too.
