Lost toy cat, heartbroken DD can anyone help?

Sadly DD's treasured toy catty took it upon herself, as cats sometimes do, to take off and fend for herself in the big bad world. Perhaps she took fright at the dramatic political headwinds and is now safely ensconced in a Norwegian passiv-haus, companion no doubt to a new family.

A couple of months have passed and DD (5) is still heartbroken. We find her staring sadly at pictures of cats and then bravely trying to carry on with the day Dowman Imports, the company who allegedly supplied and sourced Catty, no longer stock her - they have also stopped answering their phone. 

DD's latest idea is that she will tell Father Christmas and that he will bring catty back because he is magic. She has somewhat comforted herself with the idea that she won't have to be parted from catty for more than a few months. So we are faced with finding the cat or giving her the worst Christmas ever when she finds that Santa isn't magic and that she has still lost her cat.

Please help us dear mumsnetters. We are desperate. Does anyone have a toy shop or toy basket with one of these?

Note Catty's main features - particularly her pale pink nose and demented expression. In case anyone is tempted to post links to other similar cats we have tried others. The fact is, they are not floppy enough and their arms do not go in circles when you take them to their cat swimming lessons.

I feel her pain. My parents once went to a party and brought home a bunch of helium balloons... well I tired my favourite toy bunny on them and let it all go outside.

Still pains me today!! I was gutted. My dad drove for ages trying to follow it and find it.

Oh bless her. I hate it when children lose a well loved toy. Can you get someone on Twitter to spread the word? Tweet all the parent celebrities you can think of...or famous cat lovers? Or I am hoping that that wonderful power of MN will find a Catty for your wee girl.

Could the calico one be catty in disguise? She was a witness to some heinous canine crime and needed some surgery and a new coat? 🙈

The faithful friends one looks similar but I have shown her that one already and she said she didn't want it and also it didn't have whiskers. I might buy one and see what she says. It does look floppy and cuddly like catty was.

There is a Facebook page called Red Alert. It is a "national community help group" and usually contains posts about lost pets etc. It has just over 36,000 members. Might be worth a try?

Re the calico one I'm not sure the surgery story will wash but does anyone think if I bought it and took it to a dressmaker with some black fur that she could have some actual surgery and come back black and white?

I honestly was devastated- think I was about 6. I know my mum called Mothercare to get me a new one, but it wasn't the same and I was so upset about it all!!

Also we have three of those cats on the toy street link including the black and white one. They do get played with (they are all on the cat cricket team) but apparently their faces are too angry and also as mentioned their arms do not do round in circles when they are at their cat swimming lessons
