Lego, what to buy, almost 4yo

DS is obsessed with Lego cards and has been bored with Duplo for a while. I bought him a Lego city police set which he is obsessed with. What are other good sets?

Most look a bit dull tbh, not with the fun characters like the Lego Sainsburys cards. Where is the fun lego?! Bunny man? Cat man! Banana Man!

This'll annoy the lego purists, but the best way of getting all the funny characters is to go to ali-express and search for minifigs. Buy a bunch, they're only ~70p each. They'll take 2-3 weeks to arrive and you'll need to build them, they come without the arms/hands/legs clipped together and need adult hands to do that.

Then get more Lego City kits, and the fun minifigs will have things to play in.

The Lego City train set and Lego City mountain arrest are fine for young children. The cargo terminal is also good. There is actually a range called Lego Fun. We have the Lego Fun Future set. The Mighty Micros range is also good.

I would get a box of the Classic range (yellow boxes). That will give you a good starter set of bright colour bricks and some of the Classic sets have wheels and doors and windows etc. Most of the minifigs on the Sainsburys cards are from the Collectable Minifigs series - the ones that are in little bags that you don't know what you are going to get. There are nice and fun minifigs in the City/Ninjago /Speed Racers ranges though. I got a small City set from The Entertainer that is a blue car with a minifig thats a chap trying to look very cool (sunglasses/groovy hair).

If you have a Lego Store near you they have a Build Your Own minifig section.

Thank you! I've since bought the small yellow box which DS has happily played with and have a Lego Juniors sets ready for a rainy day.

Wilko Blox are compatible with Lego. I just got a box of 50 interesting characters for £15 from Wilko online. They also have small medium and large kits, which are all good :)
