Hi, Im new to Mumsnet and would like to see if what I am starting would interest people.......

I am making personalised ID Cards for kids that like to role play - so far I have made a few Teacher ones and a Secret Agent one although I am also going to make doctors, nurses, vets, astronauts, police, fireman, etc etc These would come with a breakaway lanyard OR a plastic holder with crocodile clip to attach to your clothes.

As well as these I have also played around with printing baby scan pictures onto the plastic cards and some 'save the date' cards.

What do people think? If you don't want your LOs actual photo on the card then it can be replaces with a drawing that they do of themselves (get them to draw it and then take a photo of it and send that instead)

I think most of the fun of those things comes from the child making them themselves.

If they wanted a more realistic one, most parents would just print one out, rather than add to the plastic load with something that has little long term appeal.

I can't see that you'd make a fortune from them really.

Is the diabetes one meant for role play? That seems a bit odd to me - and potentially confusing if it made its way into their bag/coat whilst they were at school or nursery.

I have a 3yr old who loves imaginary play. I can't say I can see myself spending over £5 on an ID card. She likes dressing up and we have something like this that came with an overall set but I wouldn't buy it on its own. Also, like PP says I think a lot of the fun of role/imaginary play is making things yourself, or pretending everyday objects are other things within the game. I can't see a great demand for these either, sorry.

Apologies no the Diabetes one isnt for roleplay, my nephew has it with him in case of emergency. His support group wanted me to make them for the children to carry.

No problem I appreciate getting opinions from the wider area.

Ah, I see the diabetes one is intended as an actual medical card - my apologies. Confusing to have it amongst the others. Perhaps that idea has more scope with furtger medical conditions and allergies that might be helpful to carry around with information and advice?

I work with adults with special needs and think a plastic card that may explain the basics. E.g. I find talking difficult please be patient. That they could show to a bus driver or shop assistant before a transaction could be very useful.

They could be made in a range of languages for holidays

Also Heath information to go in a wallet
current medication, diagnosis etc I think there would be a market for things that are practical.

No need to apologise, I am trying to get my head around Etsy and didn't realise that I could add various sections - just doing that now.

Because Diabetes is a big part of the family I have done this one already but before doing other medical conditions I need to research symptoms/info etc

I am hoping to come up with other ideas to design and print onto the cards so any ideas would be really welcome.

Like I said in my original post I have also printed baby scan pictures onto them which turned out well but haven't had chance to get the permission from the parents yet to show these so haven't added this to the page.

I made something similar for DS when he was 4 and obsessed with firemen. It was pretty straightforward,i’m Not sure o would have paid for it.
