Buying a doll for a boy

Hi, I have been a mum twice and now I am a grandmum so I hope I'm allowed to ask you a question. My little one is a boy named Robin aged 1 on Tuesday. I have just been to Toys R Us and nearly fell over sideways at how much more girl/pink everything is than it was when I brought up my kids in the eighties. The thing is I wanted to buy him a Fisher Price garage (which I bought his mum for her first birthday in 1983 and she loved it) but I also wanted to buy him a boy doll. Just a cheapish realistic boy with maybe a change of pyjamas. Couldn't find one anywhere. In the end I went for a box of Duplo and scarpered. The problem is that you can buy a girl doll dressed in dungarees (well, one) but a doll that a boy can identify with and learn nurturing skills with oh no. Dolls clearly are for girls. I know lots of people will disagree but I think the sexism in kids toys does matter. As it stands, I might just sew him one myself.
I just wondered if anyone knows where I might find such a thing.

Ds2 had the boy baby born. From toys r us. Anatomically correct. Admittedly I had to buy it in the pink aisle. But it's a boy doll.

Ds1s was from Early learning centre. And is also anatomically correct. I belive it's called Little Luke

(I assume these are still available. I bought them 6-8 years agk)

I had the same problem! MIL eventually found an anatomically correct baby doll, not sure where though.

I grew up in the 70s/80s and I agree with you about everything being pink! Try finding a toy pushchair that is gender-neutral. We got a pink one in the end, it was that or nothing.

We're after a doll and pushchair for ds who's 2. It drives me mad that they're all pink. We've found a pushchair in mothercare that's blue but yes looking for a doll too. Doesn't even have to be a boy one but does need to be not covered in pink. Hope you find one. X

I remember having the same trouble a couple of years ago when I was expecting DS2 and wanted a baby doll for DS1 (also horrified at the cost).

My sister found one on Amazon in the end.

That's brilliant! I was looking for a toddler more than a baby but the last one at hope-education European dolls has an anatomically correct one that actually looks like Robin and is wearing sensible clothes. Well, it is nearly Christmas so that's sorted. Thank you everyone for your help.

If you are looking for a toddler doll rather than baby I love the Haba dolls - there are some lovely one's for boys like this one.
