Good crayons?

Is there a brand of crayons that can be relied on not to snap or crumble and to easily make a nice bright mark?

and can anyone recommend a cheap set of loads of them? Reluctant to get one from the cheap shop, in case they are those annoying ones that hardly mark the paper, but the posh ones seem too expensive to trust to two preschoolers.

Wax crayons? And do you want the fat ones or the normal ones. IKEA do a good set of the fat ones.

Wax, I presume (is there another type?) I don't know about fat or thin...fat would be best for the baby, but the big girl is getting towards wanting to be able to draw and write so thin would be good for her.

Perhaps a little set of the fat ones for the baby to scribble with and a set of loads of thin ones for the big girl to do lovely colouring.

Sorry that was the wrong link I can't seem to link to what I want to. Google Twistable crayons, they are ideal for your older DD also come in glitter colours as well

I went through loads and firmly believe these ones are the best.

Twistables are great but a bit too liable to snap for the baby.

These ones have a nice sharp tip to begin with and they are sturdy enough to let you sharpen them with a knife if you want later on, for the sake of your older girl.

I would steer clear of ELC, my mum bought us a lovely big box of theirs but half the colours are really disappointing and leave almost no mark :(

I tried them all and agree the ones in Dirty's link were good however Melissa & Dougs triangular crayons were the best. Come in a fab box, never break, good colour, good range and don't roll. Staples do v good twistables.
