Which scooter for a tall-ish 3.9 year old?

Keep catching sight of the thread that is all disgusted with older children in buggies and think that I should maybe be finding another way to get my tall-ish 3.7 year old DS to and from pre-school soon that isn't going to take all day like walking does and will distract him from the apparent unfairness of 10 month old DD getting to ride in the buggy still.

I could take his bike but it's a pain to carry back and forth and there is nowhere to leave it there. So I was thinking of getting him a scooter for Christmas.

Needs to be 3 wheeled I think for extra stability and needs to fold so I can stow it in the buggy basket under DD as we walk home. Lightweight would also be good. He's used to steering his balance bike so it would probably be easier if it didn't have a fixed front wheel. I'd like it to have a break if possible and an adjustable handlebar.

I've been looking at the Blue Cosmic Light Scooter from ELC. Does anyone know if it's any good?

Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

DS has a micro scooter and while it doesn't fold it does balance well on the buggy and is pretty fab. DD who is 2.2 also has one and we use them all the time.

Have you thought about a buggy board?

I've got a P&T with a doubles seat but I'm trying to encourage him out of it and propelling himself as he's 3.5 now and looks a lot older.

It's only a 10 minute walk to Pre school if he's in the buggy but takes a lot longer if he's walking and I'm having to convince him not to climb in.

I think maybe having a scooter would convince him to put the extra effort in. He loves taking his bike, it's just a pain to carry back and forth once he's dropped off and I can't leave it there. I was thinking a scooter might fold up and go in the basket and make things easier.

I have a P&T and we also have a Micro scooter and it just hooks onto the handle of the buggy when not in use (which is pretty often, as my 3.5yo is also reluctant to get out of the buggy)

I have more success getting him to walk when the baby is in our Maclaren and we use a buggy board. He hops on and off a lot more then. When the doubles seat is available on the P&T he wants to use it!

DS loves his bike and would happily ride that rather than go in the buggy. I'm hoping the excitement of a new scooter will be enough to lure him out too

DS had the mini micro for his third birthday and has been out of the buggy pretty much ever since. He is now 4 and rides it to school (he is tallish - 105cm). It doesn't fold but does hook neatly on the buggy handle. Would definitely recommend it!

They look cool but blimey they're expensive!

DS was 100cms at 3.5 so I'm guessing he might end up a similar height to your DS.

Reason I got one was because a friend had one for her DD which she had inherited from boisterous male cousins and was still going strong. DS did manage to snap the brake off recently but v easy to get new parts (and no, I'm not on commission Wink).

DS is my eldest so I guess it does have hand-me-down potential....hmmm

The mini micro doesn't fold, but it is easy to take the handle off (it has a simple catch that you press in to release it).

We stash ours in two pieces under our Maclaren XT - which doesn't have the biggest basket by a long way.

My ds got the older version of the micro scooter and he's been fine for it (he is tall for his age and I noticed that some of his bigger friends were getting heavy for their micro scooters). So we got him the larger version - it's for 6 plus but he's fine with it and will last him forever (sturdy and I use it too). It doesn't fold but I think it's easy to take out the handle so you can stick it under the pushchair.
In fact I've done long public transport journeys with ds and I just hook it over my shoulder along with all my bags.

If money is an issue I'd go for the bigger one. But then again the mini version would be fine if there's a younger sibling to pass it on to I guess.
