Can anyone recommend one? I have looked at Le Toy Van Mike's Garage and Le Grand garage but they both have mixed reviews.

We have Le Grand Garage and it's great - bought for my 3.5 DS when he was 2 and both he and his brother - almost 2 - play with it/on it(!) daily. V sturdy and a nice combo of wooden and plastic.

My DS will be getting the Plan one for Xmas, hopefully will be ok, manufacturer looks good, all wood, didn't really want any more plastic!

Could you recommend where to buy it from. Concerned no major retailer stocks it.

Try this website:

//www.whywoodworks.co.uk

Most of my kid's xmas presents come from there.

We got the Le Toy Van garage from the Great Little Trading Company website. It is played with a lot. DS playing with it as we speak. But the plastic parts have came off but just need to be screwed in again. Lift is good but hard for 2yr old to operate. Overall nice. Especially in appearance!

ds1 got the Plan one from the inlaws for his 2nd birthday, after my parents got him the FP Little People one for his 2nd xmas (1y3m). MIL had wanted to buy him the FP one for xmas, but couldn't as my parents had already got it.
So he needed another garage, obviously Hmm.

TBH although the Plan one is lovely, and you can link the road in with Brio-type train-track, it was played with very little in comparison to the FP one, even when he subsequently became obsessed with train-track and could have incorporated the Plan one into that.
