Airline went bust while abroad

Sorry not sure if I’m the correct place

Partners flight was cancelled last month (airline went bust while abroad), had to pay approx £400 for a new flight. They bought and paid for the fare through Skyscanner on a visa debit. Can they claim the cancelled flight and the cost of the new flight back and if so how do they do this?

Thanks x

Why would they be able to claim for the cancelled flight AND the new one, so in effect a whole free trip?

Are you talking about Monach? Didn’t they get repatriated by the CAA?

Partner should start by talking to the Visa debit card issuer to see if they can do anything to reverse the charge. Generally speaking, when you have a ticket and the carrier goes bankrupt, you're just another unsecured creditor in the bankruptcy. You may however have some recourse legally through Visa that I am unaware of, but the card issuer would know.
