Is this "allowed"?
I must admit it does feel abit awkward.
He has always been friendly etc but I never thought he would ask me out confused

DaisyRaine90 Sat 28-Oct-17 18:28:16

😂

He wants to fill something else I guess?

Go for it life’s short x

ThroughThickAndThin01 Sat 28-Oct-17 18:28:46

I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed?

RaeCJ82 Sat 28-Oct-17 18:29:28

Are you both single? Is he a nice guy? If so, go for it!

SleepingStandingUp Sat 28-Oct-17 18:29:48

He isn't really in a position of power as such but you'd probably want to change your dentist if it went badly or really well.

Are you attracted to him?
What did you say?

Battleax Sat 28-Oct-17 18:30:11

Professional ethics Through?

Dentists are HCPs like any other.

Battleax Sat 28-Oct-17 18:31:15

*Are you attracted to him?
What did you say?*

Never mind that. Is he a good dentist? Gold dust 😂

iklboo Sat 28-Oct-17 18:33:02

The General Dental Council might not be too impressed if they find out.

Piratesandpants Sat 28-Oct-17 18:33:30

I’m sure it’s fine. Dentists don’t get to see you naked as part of their job.... so it’s hardly a position of power...

Battleax Sat 28-Oct-17 18:35:04

They do wield anaesthetics though <splinters in my posterior here>

silverbell64 Sat 28-Oct-17 18:36:14

Id love my dentist to ask me out on a date, he's gorgeous.

Mind you if you aren't attracted to him then it could be awkward.

GerrytheBerry Sat 28-Oct-17 18:46:43

Ooooh you must have a lovely set of teeth!
I would feel cringe at a hot bloke looking in my mouth, but if he's nice then yes, go!
Can I be nosey and ask how it came about?

internetCrazies Sat 28-Oct-17 18:56:56

Our old dentist looked like a serial killer. Nice chap and good with the teeth but if you were casting a "Killer dentist" in a horror movie you would base it on this guy.

I hope your dentist is at least good looking.

Sunrisesand Sat 28-Oct-17 19:01:55

He's actually quite attractive although I probably wouldn't notice him if he were not my dentist if that makes sense.

Yes @GerrytheBerry he's always been friendly maybe a bit over friendly. When I first joined his dentist he asked me to add him on instagram u wasn't sure if that was a bit strange but probably not as I suppose it's a good way to boost business.
Anyway on my last visit as I was leaving he basically asked if i would like to go out for a drink and gave me his number blush
I haven't txt or anything yet.

Overreaction1 Sat 28-Oct-17 19:05:01

If you don't get a creepy vibe go for it.
The only thing that would worry me is if he does it all the time and uses his work to meet women.
But if he just really likes you and this is out of character then he may be a really nice guy. You will only find out if you go.

WanderingTrolley1 Sat 28-Oct-17 19:07:44

Seems unprofessional to me.

SpinnerDryer Sat 28-Oct-17 19:10:34

Oh. I dont know.
I would wonder if he does it to others. But go for it, if you like him.

FacelikeaBagofHammers Sat 28-Oct-17 19:12:53

I've got a handsome dentist too, he's got amazing teeth.

I would go for it, life is too short. Though I would be super self conscious about flossing before the date grin

SierraFerrara Sat 28-Oct-17 19:14:20

Not particularly professional or appropriate.

CatsAreKool Sat 28-Oct-17 19:15:03

Go for it but change to another dentist

notacooldad Sat 28-Oct-17 19:28:21

I would say do it if you want to.
Sure he is a HCP but he isn't in a position of power over you and you are not a vulnerable patient. He isn't abusing trust.

Not everyone is going to agree with him asking but you are a fully grown person who can make their own mind up.

Jasminedes Sat 28-Oct-17 19:48:50

No, the Instagram thing suggests poor boundaries from the outset. He has a professional code of ethics which will include social media advice and he sounds very possibly like a moderately predatory creep.

silverbell64 Sat 28-Oct-17 19:54:11

I have my dentists personal text no big deal.
I wouldn't say he's creepy at all, that's extreme posting and overthinking the situation. Go on a date if you want OP. If not, just politely decline.

TroysMammy Sat 28-Oct-17 19:59:07

How often do you go to the dentist? I'm there twice a year for 10 mins max and most of that time I've got my gob open and a tube sucking my saliva out.

Sunrisesand Sat 28-Oct-17 20:21:16

I think I will go out with him but I don't know what to say when I txt him.
What should I say?
I've never felt so awkward. I think because he is my dentist.
