The weights room

Does anyone not use conventional weights - I'm not sure where to start

Maybe the weights room is the wrong place, but after moving short logs around the last few evenings (for MIL log burner) I would like to try out some strength training using the stuff I have to hand in the garden. I'm two hrs from the nearest gym so an actual weights room isn't going to happen.

I've kept some logs, I can pick them up to waist height and move them 10m - although I've not tried going any further or lifting them higher. (think they are around 20kgs)
Have loads of car tyres, wooden paletts and 10litre buckets.
1 large stone in the garden - think I can get my arms around it but I've not tried moving it yet.
I also have a few dumbells 2 x 10kg fixed weights, and 2 bars with loose discs 4x1.25kgs, and 4 x 2.5kgs.

Is there something I could google to get some ideas of plans?
I basically want to be stronger, I'm never going to be tonned and sleek I'm just not that sort of build.

thanks for any ideas.

I'm not sure this answers your question in the way you would like it answered but in your situation, I would buy some TRX bands and use those. Brilliant for building strength. When I am traveling I use them to ensure I get a full body work out - you can do rows, curls, squats anything you like using them. There are loads of workouts on line.

I came on here to suggest getting a TRX and see the Bogey has beaten me to it. You can literally work every part of you with a TRX and take them anywhere - hang it from a special mount, a tree or a door. It was developed by US Marines who wanted to work out while they were on manoeuvres and had very limited equipment.
Have a look on YouTube and you'll find loads of workouts using them

Have a look at Ross training. He makes most of his training equipment and is really strong.

Agree with TRX recommendation, its a great piece of kit. The trouble with using stuff in the garden is the difficulty in getting hold of things properly, how easy they are to manouevre and hold safely, not so much the weight of them IYSWIM? Risk of accident has to be pretty high?

I was at bootcamp this morning where we were throwing sledge hammers at a tractor tyre, flipping other tractor tyres (approx 60kg), dragging smaller tyres (approx 20kg) and doing sitting squats holding Bulgarian bags (10kg) - all of which sound like they'd fit in with what you have to hand!

kanye we do the same at our gym! So much fun and very similar to what the OP is suggesting.

This sort of lifting is becoming increasingly popular. And can be done safely, as safely as lifting dumbells etc. As long as you take the same precautions
