I went to see a medium tonight in a group type setting of around 80 people.
I put my phone down on her table with a photo on the screen of me as a baby with my great grandma.
She said things to my mum that she remembers of her, mentioned cousins in Canada (true) and asked what was happening in May. I get married in May. She said she knew I was debating about having a tiara (I am) and worrying it’s too much but that she loves it and to wear it. She said she has heard conversations about having a table with photos of loved one that have passed (we have) and she likes the idea and thinks it would look nice with rose petals. She said she likes my house (I take pride in it but compare it a lot to others) and someone had a heart attack suddenly which was her husband.
Have I just been sucked in and let her convince me she was on to something or is there such thing?

I think there are two types of mediums. The deluded, who actually think they're speaking to the dead and the fraudulent, who are just out to cheat you.

They are scam artists.

If you know she hasn't listened in on any conversations you may have had throughout the night to give her information beforehand, then I would believe her. I was once contacted by a great grandmother I'd never met before she died through a table tilting kind of thing, but it was just a simple event to contact spirits in a haunted building. Some people don't believe, but once you've experienced it, it's hard not to

I spent thousands on visiting mediums after the death of my mother. I was deeply unhappy and ravaged by grief, and I feel like they took advantage of me, either due to their delusions or because they were con artists.

@ilovenaps I had a brief conversation about being stressed about the guest list but she wasn’t around, and I never mentioned the month and I certainly didn’t mention I had bought a tiara that I was doubting wearing!
She was my mums grandmother and she brought her up. She knew we had family in Canada of all places? And she mentioned a man with diabetes who goes into a drawer at night for sweets he’s not meant to have.. my dad! I just thought it’s hard to have made that up? It was literally only at the weekend I was talking to my fiancé about having a table of photos of passed loved ones. It’s very strange! x

@KnickerBockerAndrew I’m very sorry to hear that. I suppose it is easy for them to pray on the most vulnerable people.

Yes I think you've been sucked in. None of that 'information' is particularly remarkable, just some good guesswork and a few leading questions.

Believe what you want to believe - lots of people do, as you probably saw tonight - but do you honestly believe this woman could contact a specific dead person yet could only pass on such trivial comments?
At best it was harmless; at worst she was taking advantage of you and your mum's emotions.

@wantthismummy I think it's amazing. I would believe her with what you've told me, they don't just say anything and hope it's right. Did she have the guest list before the event? If your social media has lots of info on she might have got it from that, but if you're pretty private then I think it's real. Also I think a tiara for a wedding is lovely, I would wear one too grin

Those are the things she got right - but what did she get wrong ?

Mediums are rubbish. I saw one recently as part of a ghost walk and itconfirmed all my suspicions. When you are dead, you are dead.

As a spirit would you really want to check in and see your loved ones bereft without you? Would you hang around not being able to talk or say anything of worth, Except comment on ‘facts’?
If I could contact my loved ones I wouldn’t say things like ‘hey, we have relatives in Canada!’

I’d say - I love you, I miss you, things are alright, it’s wierd being a spirit! Etc !

I saw a Medium over 20 years ago, we had never met each other before. She told me things about my family that we true and even mentioned one person by their surname and mentioned that they were disabled (also true). There was no social media or mobile phones back then, also my family lived in a different part of the country so she couldn't have met them. I think there are some very good genuine Mediums out there, and many who make it all up for money. Yours sounds quite genuine.
