Does anyone remember this one-off spooky TV programme on TV?

Ok - this is a long shot and I'm not messing about. I happened to come across a programme on TV a number of years back. It was on a UK channel such as BBC or Channel 4, I can't remember which one. In the programme ordinary people were interviewed about creepy things that had happened to them.
One woman spoke about how a troll had visited her in her living room when she was a child.
Another woman told how she was grazed on the ear by a stray random old bullet accidentally gathered into a bonfire she attended. The bullet exploded in her direction. When they checked the bullet casing, it had her initials on it.
Another spoke about feeling compelled to answer a public phone ringing in the street. When she picked up the receiver, it was someone she knew on the other end who had dialled a wrong number.
Anyone remember this programme? I'd love to see it again. I love stuff like this.

No I don't but I remember when I was little thete was a really scarey one on the BBC one Halloween with that woman off Blue Peter, Sarah...... They were supposedly live broadcasting and filming in a haunted house and things happened. It was terrifying. My babysitter let me watch it when my mum and dad were out. I was only about 6 or something. It was really terrifying and I was inconsolable. My parents were furious with her when they came back.

That second one is Ghostwatch, famous for traumatising children across the UK. Had a poltergeist called Pipes in it that you never quite saw. Don't know about the first though, sounds v interesting.

I don't think it was ghost watch as it was a one off. I had to turn it off as was convinced the ghouls would come through the tv. Ghost watch is live I thought-this was made up-but terrifying and I was in my late teens I think.
No idea how to help op though!

Didn't Ghostwatch get in trouble because a viewer committed suicide? I remember clearly being scared whilst it was on and my parents turning it off.

Ghostwatch was amazing. Must find it on youtube.

That's it - Parky, Sarah Whatsername and wasn't MiKe Smith involved? Yes the ghost called Pipes. It was so scary. It was so real. They had a big outside broadcast truck outside the house. I wonder if it would still seem scary now. I didn't realise it had caused a hoohaw. I was too young to take all that in. I just remember being scared witless.

Good link. I wasn't 5 or 6, it was 1992, I was 12! I was still terrified. Looking back at how scared I was, I felt really young. My 'babysitter' lived a few streets away and she was at university so she must have been about 19. She was scared too.
I don't remember Craig Charles being in it at all. I might get the DVD - but am still scared to see it again.

A lot of people were fooled.

Is that the one you mean OP? Or not?

OP, I think the programme you describe was called One In Million, it was about unlikely coincidences. I remember watching it as a child.

I wrote to the bbc after ghost watch! I was 12 I think, and utterly traumatised. The program mentioned dead puppies because I remember focusing someof my outrage on that. In reality I was just scared shitless and felt slightly humiliated for being taken in so completely Smile

Hi Championnibbler,

Yes I remember this programme. Long time since I watched it but the one with the troll stuck in my mind. IIRC it told her it'd prove it was real by making her mother come into the room and pick up a cushion, which she did and then was confused about why she'd done that.

I have it on video somewhere and still have an old vcr, but I have dozens of ancient videos and it could be on any one of them so it's not going to be easy to find it. I'll let you know what the programme was if I track it down. Hopefully it'll be up on YouTube.

I loved Ghostwatch so much. Paved the way for all of the Most Haunted type shows. They pale in comparison.

@BobbingAlong1 - thanks for the link to the weird stories on YouTube. I love this stuff too and have never seen that before :) Not sure how I’m going to sleep, now, alone in a strange house...
