My dd loans a share of a pony at a riding stables near us. We split her costs with her owner, an adult who works full time. The pony also earns some of her keep by working in the yard occasionally. My slight worry is that dd seems to be getting by far the best of the deal. She rode at least 5 times a week over the summer holidays, and since term started she's used the pony at Pony Club and and has hacked out at least once, usually twice at the weekend and one weeknight. Her owner only seems to be riding her once a week at the most. Dd always checks with her owner that it's OK for her to ride.
Do you think we should be offering to pay more of her costs? Or should we just take it that the pony will be the better for the work and her owner is probably relieved not to have to feel guilty about not being able to ride more often?
