Plastic shoes?

So, I wasn’t actually party to this conversation. It was DH and he ‘can’t really remember’. I may have totally the wrong end of the stick

DD’s horse has a wee touch of arthritis. When the farrier came last he was talking about a type of plastic shoe that are nicer for horses with arthritis/joint problems and suggested we give them a try next time

They’re fitted in the same way as steel shoes and once on look exactly the same, last just as long and cost the same

I’ve been trying to find out a bit more about them but not having much luck. They’re definitely not the clip on type and they don’t need glueing. They are pretty much a normal shoe, just plastic.

Anyone know what I’m talking about and could give me any information please?

Thanks!

My old pony had these, but they were about £70 more expensive than a normal set. They did make him more comfortable. He had pedal ostiitis.

Thanks!

I don’t think they’re quite the ones

I’ve spoken to the farrier myself and I’m still none the wiser to be honest

They’re not filed down or anything, but heated up as normal, then put in ice where they go really hard. They look like normal shoes when on

They’re no more expensive and the carrier says they’re just as hard wearing and last as long as normal shoes so got to be worth giving them a go
