Paraglider (motorised)

Hello, this is my first post and I was just wondering if anyone else has had problems with Paragliders (motorised) flying very low - less than 50ft - over their horses? We're having on going problems with one who seems to delight in circling over our horses and scaring the sh1t out of them for 5 minutes then flying off. It's happened 5-6 times in the last few months. We're close to a light airfield so my horses are used to aircraft noise but this guy is dangerous! We've tried both the Police & the CAA both of which were us useful as a chocolate teapot! Airfield don't know him either. Any ideas, help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Kate

I've seen them around occasionally but not known them deliberately try to scare horses. There is a British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association. Maybe start with them, see if there are local clubs and what the regs are for their use?

Depending on where you are and how much news there is, it's something the local press might be interested in. Someone will know who this person is. It's a shitty thing to do but perhaps once it's explained to them, they'll realise that actually no it isn't funny and they'll back off.

Failing that, find a friend with an air gun who likes scaring the shit out of paragliders.

Thank you both. We've tried the BHPA, they advised that they are lobbying the Gov & CAA to try & make it compulsory for all hand/para gliders to be licenced. There is currently no legal requirement for them to do so. As for the second suggestion I have to admit I did look at the gun cabinet ......

I may have totally imagined this, but I seem to remember being told that (if motorised) they had to fly no lower than 500 feet.

Contact the UK Civil Aviation Authority for advice.
