Gilets for those with large norkage

Daren't put this in 'style and beauty' for fear of being drummed out of town!

I know that big norkage and waistcoats/gilets do not go together and are totally unflattering but it is practicality that I am more concerned about and I am desperate for one.

Anyone know of any brands with a bit of "stretch" or "easement" built in by any chance?

Would prefer quilted but can be fleece or any other fabric as long as fairly hard wearing.

Thanks for any suggestions/recommendations!

I do not have big boobs but I do have a love of gilets! I have a quilted fat face one with a huge hood and a stretchy waist band it is great!

I have huge boobs and my gilet is from h and m. It's actually pretty flattering. It has a fake fur trimmed hood which wouldn't be ideal for riding/mucking out but is detachable. Cost about 40 last autumn iirc.

Cookie I've looked at FatFace but they only seem to have ones for blokes in stock atm sadly. Thanks though!

Guess an equestrian brand might have some stretchy side panels or similar perhaps (she said hopefully)?

I have one from Joules which is cut with some curve in it. it is quilted, i looked around till i found one which wasn't flat at the front, but tailored with a curve in a more pepper berry style cut. good luck.

Thanks for the tip Walrus! Again, can't find a gilet on the H&M website although I live abroad and am looking at the local site, so might not be the same thing you see! Perhaps I'm looking at the wrong time of year?

Anyway, being older, perhaps I need a more classic style, not sure! Would just be happy to find one that fits and doesn't make me look too much like a hippopotamus (I am v. rotund atm Blush) but am tall so hoping to get away with it ... .

I have big norks but comfortably wear a plain grey Jack Wills one to the yard. Goes underneath waterproof jackets and even does up over my body protector (just).

Thanks Pashmina Joules do have one called the Highgrove Hmm that has stretchy side panels but unfortunately all the large sizes have sold out, so others have obviously got there before me!

At least I know what I am looking for now though ... !

Must have x posted with you Puppymouse - thank you - will check out Jack Wills!

Sprinkle I love it but I fear it is a bit too young (esp lovely colour) for me. Thanks though! I think I need a dark navy to diminish norkage size.

Walrus/Pashmina meant to add - joking apart - that I think they can be flattering if you get the right shape and colour. If dark colour and well fitted, they can give the impression of pushing back norkage and bringing arms/neckline and collar in to relief ifyswim ie good disguise trick.

Rydale do nice ones which go up to 2xl.

I buy a lot from them for me and DD including jumpers and polo shirts for riding in. They aren't too pricey and last ages!

I am a G cup and my Barbour gilet is the best/most flattering I have ever tried.
It should have been pretty expensive but I got it at 50% off - maybe because it is a rather vivid green.

Ohhhh thanks Luna the Ryedale ones look fab and the choice is huge so there must be one in there that will suit I would have thought! Smile As you say, they are a good price too! Wasn't aware of that brand so very useful link, ta!

Hello - just diving back in this thread - have very dodgy Internet connection so hope this works ok - but thought I would post results of my search here in case anyone is looking for same thing!

Ordered Ryedale ones and they are very good quality for the price but the fit made me look very hefty all over (I have narrow shoulders and big norks which is a terribly difficult combo) but would be great for someone with even sizing all over. Send them back but making a note of website for when we next need to buy jodphurs!

In the end I bought the Barbour Landry Gilet which is a bit young in style for me (I'm an old fogey) but it is very warm and practical with a very useful inside zip pocket and the fit on the bust is snug but good.

And I also bought the Women's Joules Braemar Quilted Gilet which, believe it or not, actually looks quite stylish - it's lighter than the Barbour one - and a bit smarter.

HTH! And thanks again for all the pointers!

Meant to say the Joules Braemar one has stretchy side panels which help a lot!
