So very sad.

My lovely lovely horse is being PTS tomorrow after failing to respond to 6 weeks of antibiotics for an internal infection that has settled in his hock. He has had many issues, most major being the kissing spine surgery and I've had 2 good years since that but am absolutely shattered that there's no more to be done.

From something so outwardly small developing into this has completely stunned us all and both my vet and the equine specialist vet are stumped too, so much so that they will be carrying out a post mortem.

He's given so much pleasure, been such a friend and got me brave enough to hunt properly and team chase and I was so looking forward to more time with him, we're just gutted.

Dreading tomorrow, just dreading it, but at least he will be at peace and no longer in pain.

So very sad.

So sorry to read this. Such a lovely photo. Be kind to yourself and remember you did all you could. You are making the hardest decision for the sake of your gorgeous boy.
Lost a much loved friend here a few months ago. I have a horseshoe I can't quite manage to display and horsehair I can't face sending away to have a necklace made.

So sorry.

Do remember the things he did with and for you, the nuzzling kisses if he was a kissy sort, the breathing down your neck, the where's my polo please, the addition he made to your life, the extension he made to your love and, if or when you get another, that he would have been pleased that he had made it possible for you.

And a lovely photo.

So sorry.

I can't add much more to the lovely posts above except that he has been loved, looked after and will be remembered with love by you. This is the best we can give to our horses, you have done the best for him.

Will be thinking of you and your boy tomorrow.

Know you are doing the very kindest thing you can do and that you tried your very best for him. It is the last kindness we show them and the hardest. FlowersWineCake

So sorry for you Frosty - I follows your post with his kissing spine operation, and re-habilitation .....I feel your pain. I am so so sorry, but for all he has done for you, you are doing the right thing for him and that is so so very brave.

Thanks for the kind words, they mean a lot. It was hard but he didn't know and was stuffing carrots. The others saw him & seem to have accepted it but I keep looking for him still and see him galloping round the field. I've managed to forget all the naughty things he did, he's almost a saint in my memory! Now have to build a new relationship with a new horse but I'll miss him terribly.

He will be galloping in heavenly pastures if there is an afterlife and gas been part or a circle of love, so leaves the best with you. But the hole is huge. Thinking if you.
