I had a lesson today for the first time in twenty years and the first time I've ridden a horse that wasn't my own in as long... It was amazing!!!
I'm about to explode with joy and had to share!

Can I be smug and say the instructor said it was lovely to see the horse (lovely grey mare 16.1) be ridden by someone who can ride for a change and see the horse respond!

I probably won't be able to walk joy joy!

Ha ha, so excited you posted twice smile.

Sounds great, and tbh if you've jumped back on after 20 years and got a compliment from your instructor you can be as smug as you like!

DH says you never forget, the DDs wanted to go riding in Majorca.

DH went off with the most experienced bunch and they finished of galloping in the sunset. I don't think I've ever seen such a grin on DHs face. He hadn't ridden for about 15 years and not regularly since he was at school many many years before that.

He did the same trip again a couple of years later and we got another huge grin. He's wouldn't bother riding normally, but just that twice he was the sixfoot teen with the tiny mum who they trusted with the stables lovely big character of a horse and he was back in a time that can never be again.

Ha indeed I do...thanks everyone I knew you'd all understand!

I've already done the sums..worked out when the wee ones (3.2 and 20 months) start school and I can pay for horse care and not child care!!!

Nocomet...that brought a lump to my throat...

I dragged DD to the tack shop this morning so I could buy a hat....and here it starts...roll on next Friday

I recently took up riding again after a twenty year break. Loving it! And now I can take my own dd with me it's even better ! Very sore after the first week though . Instructor was very complimentary about my riding, I think you just remember what to do. However confidence needs building up again . Cantering felt very fast!

I'm hooked I've been every week since my post...although I'm a bit bored of the instructor trying to find my perfect position( I feel like I'm helping school a new addition to the school ) so I'm off for a ride in the Ashdown Forest this week and next! Love it!!

I have just had my first lesson for thirty years, thought I was fit but boy was trotting hard on the thigh muscles. Weirdly more confident in a way though, not scared of making mistakes now I am ancient.

Hooray good for you!
I'm off now for my weekly fix x

I don't have a lesson for a couple of weeks due to Easter Pony camps at the stables, I am going to try and improve my fitness in the mean time.

doing something challenging just for me has really boosted my mood.

I've just had my sixth lesson after a twenty year break. Cantering without reins on the lunge to work on balance and seat. Rising trot, no reins, no lunge, eyes shut to make me more confident. My instructor is a beast, and a genius.

I've gone from fortnightly lessons to twice a week, my bug is bugged...

OOh that sounds great. My instructor is also a bit of a beast but I really like her...she has already said she will recommend me to a few of the liveries that probably would like someone competent to do a share..god knows when I will have time for that tho...two toddlers a full time job and a commute into London...

I went for a 2 hour hack in the Ashdown forest was ok....I would have liked to gallop off into the sunset...think I am probably a pain in the arse but its hard getting on school ponies after years of zooming round cross country courses.....

Keep going Fuckeroo..I'm also on week 6 and have fancy news jods and boots!!!
