At how many weeks pregnant did you stop riding?

I'm just curious. This is my first pregnancy, am 14 weeks now and feel totally fine. I'm still playing polo and riding young horses and was just wondering at what point people stopped competing or riding altogether....

Around 7ish months - I found I could no longer get on without the bump getting in the way.

Still riding at 24 weeks! And competing but no jumping :(

I stopped at about 6 months. My horse is very sensible, but has a very active walk and I started finding even that 'on the way home' walk was too bouncy, and I was getting uncomfy.

at about 7 months, both times. I just couldn't get off! I did have a little sit on my old horse too - I sold him when I was 36 weeks pregnant and I rode him the day before they came to collect him. 12 weeks later I bought my new horse and took him out hunting a couple of weeks later Grin.

Haha fab!!! I'm a bit sad to miss the hunting season as the baby is due Jan 9th, but I suppose there is always next year....

the week before i was induced. Very slow by the end though and getting off was an issue (mare was 17.2). Stopped jumping from the start.

I think you know your own horse and body but I wouldn't and haven't jumped at all during pregnancy.

16 weeks the first time due to hyperemesis more than anything. Popped back on at ~28 weeks mind.

Second time 10 weeks because I moved to a new yard and she was really spooky.

Jumped both times.

I stopped at about 4 months, because as my bump started to appear I got nervous of bashing it. I'd say if you feel happy and confident still riding then go for it, when it starts to feel wrong, that is the time to stop!

23 weeks. It was completely pointless as I couldn't school effectively and I was too worried to hack as my lot can be a bit lively out and about.

about 30 weeks first time round, but relatively sedate hacks for the last 6 weeks or so. Had a fall at 14 weeks, which bizarrely didn't worry me at all Hmm and caused no problems so made me even more gung ho! 2nd pregnancy I was still riding when I miscarried at about 12 weeks. This time round am totally paranoid and stopped as soon as I got a BFP.

1st pregnancy I stopped at about 7 months, more out of concern for my horse than the pregnancy as I was carrying a lot of extra water weight.

This time round I'm 16 weeks and haven't ridden since 5 weeks as I've been plagued with horrendous nausea which has stopped me wanting to do anything physical - missing it.

if you feel safe and physically able keep going.

First time around about 26 weeks when getting on and off got too difficult. Second time around about 13 weeks when spd got too painful.
This time I havent ridden at all, new horse isn't bombproof and I'm not risking falling off! My back is knackered as it is, dont need to fall off a 17.2 and completely trash it.

Hi I've been wondering the same question, I'm 8 weeks with no3 atm and have stopped jumping and reduced the amount of hours I ride by about 2/3 but that is more due to the exhaustion and nausea. I hope once that goes about 12 weeks ish I'll carry on but go steady, until bump gets too big. (Getting off involves swinging leg forward so don't lean on bump). My stables know and are quite happy to follow my lead.
I think its good to stay fit and a friend told me of nursing research which suggests regular exercise improves the baby's cardiac output too. However, the big question is IF something happened would you blame yourself?

Tbh I used to dismount by swingin my leg over his neck and sliding down the side, but he was a bit of a donkey about stuff like that. I remember once we tried side saddle with him and I boosted the rider up too far back and she ended up missing the saddle and sat on his arse. He just rolled his eyes and gave me a resigned look. God i miss him, he was just the best boy in the world :0(

10 wks, anyone can fall off and I didn't think it was worth the risk.

Just after 7 months, started to struggle getting on and off! DarlingBigHorse was just fab the whole time and really gentle. DarlingBabyHorse (18months old) less adoring and has whacked me in the boob with his big conk a few times but is on 4 weeks box rest so is forgiven Sad

Around 16 wks first time cos it was uncomfortable. Would have carried on if it wasn't.

This time I stopped as soon as I found out as I was at a new yard and I didn't know the area/hacks/no school avail and hoss had become unsettled by the move so I decided not to ride in case we had a silly accident.

Hi

I have not ridden since I found out I was pregnant as I personally just feel it is not worth the risk. At the end of the day, despite me knowing my horse is safe, he is still an animal and may get spooked so have decided that it is only for 9-12mths and then I can get back to it. Luckily my husband rides too so our horse can still be ridden. Appreciate everyone is different though, I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy so am probably over cautious. The midwife did say I shouldn't ride though whilst pregnant.

i rode right up to 40weeks. I jus tdidnt junp or go galloping about. As long as your horse is calm and you feel happy riding then i would say carry on :) x
