Vet checks

Can someone tell me more about this please. I am thinking of getting a Dartmoor (from a reputable breeder down south) - I am up north. How does the vet check work as obviously I can't use my usual vet.

Cheers!

Whereabouts "down south"? As i think your best bet is to ask on here if anyonr can recommend a vet - and check with the breeder who his vet is (you dont want to use theirs!!). Or maybe ask yourvet if he knows anyone.

Usually you find out which vet your vendor uses and ask them to recommend another vet in the area (or you can google one). Vets have their reputations to consider and if they don't work for the vendor should soley be working for you.

We usually get a 2 stage vetting on a pony and ask them to take bloods as well so that if there is any problem we could subsequently find out if the pony had been sedated or doped in any way.

Ask your vet if he can recommend someone.
