Hi guys,

Can any of you offer some insight/opinions?

My mare is a healthy 16.2 ID x. We recently moved yards (2 months ago) and she has slight colic a couple of days later, she has had this before when we have moved/or she has been on new grass so vet suggested putting her on a probiotic supplement. Started her on Yea Sacc and her poo has been runny ever since, we stopped using it on Sunday and there is still no improvement.

Has anyone any experience of this please?

I'm now wondering if there is something else wrong with her and it is just a coincidence that the symptoms started around same time as the supplement?

I will of course call the vet (am doing this in the morning) but wondered if anyone had any experience?

She shows no other worrying signs, is happy and alert and eating as normal.

Thanks.

Could it be the new grass/richer grass perhaps? The Spring grass is coming through now too. Maybe try Pink Powder, I used it with mine and its worked a treat, I have never tried yea sacc.

When you speak to the vet, ask about encysted red worms. No need to panic, but really runny poo was the first symptom my pony had of a massive red worm attack (and she was a regularly poo-sampled and wormed pony.) It could be many other things, too, though.

Thanks for your reply. I really don't think it is the grass, they are only turned out for half a day (maybe a bit more now it's a bit nicer weather but no more than 5 hours) and the field is not full of grass (yard owner gives hay) so don't think it is that.

I've heard before that pink powder is good stuff, may have to get her some, thanks :-)

Do you feed garlic? If so then this can lead to runny bum in some horses
Pink powder worked for one of mine and quickly too
