A thread on the SN board has just reminded me about this, did anyone else see it? It's not a programme I've ever seen before so I'm not totally clear on the format but I noticed in the paper that it was about Horseboy Camps which seemed interesting so I set the recorder.
Well it was all a bit odd. Some people had taken their son to a camp and he'd started to speak (which was fab - wish ds would) so they wanted to do something to help others. All good so far. Then the presenter (was he the celebrity? I don't know!) got some vague message on his laptop about how the camp needed 'equipment and a horse'. After about half an hour of driving about the countryside and chatting on his phone he turned up at this camp with a pile of saddles and an ex race-horse! It was massive (looked 17hh to me) and was rolling its eye at the camera. Blimey, don't think I'd be happy with my disabled son being plonked on the back of that. (not sure whether to Grin or Shock!).

Well you could be right because I didn't see any hats in evidence. I'd hoped to take ds to a camp one day (if I can ever afford it, it's not cheap) and I was rather put off by seeing on this programme a woman going over jumps with a small child on the front of her saddle and no hats on either of them.

that doesn't sound very therapeutic does it? Not exactly the most safety conscious person on the yard but children on horses without hats, yikes.

Is this a new series? When/where is it on?

It was on one evening last week (can't even remember the channel sorry), I don't know much about it, as I say I've never seen it before. I just saw a mention somewhere that it was going to be about horseboy camps so had a look. I think it's normally about all different subjects, doing nice things for people who have been nominated, eg there was a lovely lady who had fostered lots of children so they surprised her with a fruit basket and a meal at a posh hotel.

The idea of kids with autism working with and riding ponies sounds great. I think the RDA do a wonderful job in this regard. However I've looked at the horseboy camps website and they seem bonkers. Kids riding without helmets, often on ponies which are far too big and sometimes two to a pony! I know some of these photos are taken in America but even so...
