. While signing a different petition whichis in the news today I found this mad one on the No 10 website.
Horse Riders to clean up their horses mess on public paths
Responsible department: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
Got horse riders to come under Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 the same as dog owners. If when riding their horse defecates on a public path then as dogs owners have to they should clean it up or be fined.
Can you imagine getting off while on a hack and carrying a (totally inoffensive) horse poo back home with you?? I bet they were on a 'day out in the country' in their nice shiny silver Hunters with bows on. They'll be asking farmers to clean up cow pats if a footpath crosses a field next.
Madness, but horses shouldn't be on paths anyway, unless it is a bridlepath and the clue is in the name for shiny welly wearers.
Frankly, nothing surprises me.Years ago we had complaints because when we brought the cows in to milk, they pooed on the road and made it look messy.
Mirage, that's bananas about the cow poo on the roads.
Ok - yes we shouldn't ride on 'footpaths'. Don't they normally have stiles or kissing gates at each end. They seem to around here. Wouldn't it be FAB is there were more legal bridlepaths??. However loads of places to ride are 'rights of way' so get used by cyclists, walkers, riders etc. I can see that some folks might not like poo, but horse poos are so huge, there's no way to miss them and tread in them by mistake like a dog poo. I find them totally inoffensive myself. Nags eat hay and grass, not meat, so I don't find they smell unpleasant at all, and they don't stick to your shoe like dog poo. Plus they dry out and scatter out in no time at all anway.
If they made that law I would have to hack with a trowel ( how dangerous would THAT be??) and a huge rucksack on my back, purely to take home the poo. Or do you all think we should demand the Government supplies those 'poo bins' like for the dogs, along bridle paths? They'd better build them big!!! Hahaha!!!
Yes,the footpaths around here all have stiles or kissing gates at each end,a total pain.If they were normal gates we'd be able to go from village to village and never go on the road.Very annoying.
Dpony never poos outside if her field, until last week when she stepped onto the pavement in the village and promptly pooed all over it.It was almost like she'd done it on purpose.I kicked it into the gutter, befouling my new trainers in the process.
I suppose we could employ a minion to run behind us armed with a shovel, just in case?
I think a point in question is, that the type of twats who complain about "cun'ry stuff" wouldn't know the difference between a bridlepath and a footpath if clydesdale iron hit them in the face.
