I have just read on another thread that you shouldn't lunge cobs. Why is this? Haven't heard that before.

i know people say dont lunge young cobs/shire types due to the size and extra strain on their joints. but i wouldn't of thought that would apply to a mature horse.

I have lunged my welsh d since she was 4 and she is in her 30's now with no probs

I have never heard of this and to be honest cant think of one single reason not to lunge a cob Hmm

A big/young horse, as kay said, fair enough as it can put a bit more pressure on their legs but that is easily solved by using a bigger space and a double length lunge rope to give them a lot more room than a 20m circle.
