Has anyone made a loss of use claim with Petplan?

How long did it take? My horse has had to be retired due to osteoarthritis. :( I have another horse on loan at the moment but I've seen a couple of other ones I'm interested in. I don't want to start looking properly until I know the claim is going through but I have no idea how long it could take. Has anyone been through this?

I've never made a loss of use claim, but I understand it can be very tricky as they seem to have lots of get out clauses. Read the smallpring closely is the only advice I can think of!

Thanks Frosty. :) I spoke to them today and they said it can take months. I just have to get all all the paperwork back to them ASAP. Slightly worried about small print but he was insured for dressage and showjumping and he can't be ridden at all now :( so I'm not sure what they would be able to get out on!

Sorry to hear about your horse, hope he has a happy retirement.
The owner of my share/loan horse is putting in for loss of use (with pet plan), they are being very... evasive at the moment, have said up to 6 months, and wanted her to try sell him as a companion (not going to happen) before they'd even consider settling the claim (untill we threatened them a bit made then see sense). I hope your claim comes through soon ish.
